Dining on Eleuthera

Should you find yourself with a free morning, a long lunch or an evening of your own, these are a few places we would put on the list. Most are in Governor’s Harbour or along Banks Road, within easy reach of Potlatch.

Eleuthera rewards a little flexibility. Hours, menus and music schedules may change with the season, so it is always wise to call before setting out—and to reserve dinner in advance whenever possible.

The Fig Tree at The Potlatch Club

Fresh, locally influenced cooking in Potlatch’s beautiful dining room or outside beneath the palms and the restaurant’s namesake tree. This is the most refined option on the list, though the atmosphere remains comfortably island-minded.
Location: The Potlatch Club, Old Banks Road
Reservations: Advance reservations are strongly recommended for both lunch and dinner.

Location: Banks Road, just outside Governor’s Harbour
Reservations: Recommended, particularly for dinner and live-music evenings. Same-day reservations should be made by phone.

A family-run Governor’s Harbour favorite serving generous Bahamian and Caribbean dishes in an easygoing setting. It is particularly good for anyone looking for traditional island cooking rather than a resort-style meal.
Location: Haynes Avenue, Governor’s Harbour

Anchor Bay Fish Fry

For those making their own plans on Friday evening, the weekly Fish Fry offers a lively taste of local Eleuthera: fried fish, conch, traditional sides, music and plenty of island character.

The Fish Fry is not a hosted celebration event; it is simply a much-loved local tradition for guests who may wish to visit independently.
Location: Anchor Bay, Governor’s Harbour, near the entrance to Cupid’s Cay
Reservations: None. The schedule can change, so confirm that the Fish Fry is taking place before setting out.

A Note on Harbour Island

Harbour Island is well worth the journey, but it is not a simple dinner outing from Potlatch. Between the drive north and the water taxi, it is best enjoyed as a full-day excursion—or as an extension before or after the celebration. For that reason, we have kept the recommendations above closer to home.
